Is it possible to install weaved on a laptop running linux in the same fashion as you install on a rasberry pi ?
Yes it is possible to install Weaved on a laptop (linux or Mac) in the same way you did for Pi. The process is given within the post here: http://forum.weaved.com/t/updated-script-for-fast-ssh-connections/623
The instructions to install Weaved daemon on your Mac/Linux laptop start at the heading:Download the Weaved daemon
I've run the BeagleBone Black installer on x86 Ubuntu, works fine. Might also work on Debian or Mint or any other Debian based Linux.
What flavor of Linux are you using?
Hi sorry for late replyI am running Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca
oh and do you know if this will work on a VM ?
I haven't tried that but I don't see why it wouldn't work on a VM.
works a charm on both....
hiCan i use the same procedure for my linux laptop now everything changed to remot3it?
We have an installer package which supports 64-bit Debian compatible Linux:
Please download the most recent deb package and follow the instructions given at that page.
Thanks for that works perfectly on linux mint 17.3.One question though what command do I run if I want to edit a service ie change a port number?
Can you give an example of what you mean?
Example I install vnc server the default port in weaved is 5901, at this point you are given the option to change in one case I forgot to change. In linux mint the default port is 5900 so how can i edit the port number in weaved after you have installed vnc on port 5901 ?
Just run weavedinstaller again, select the VNC option again, it will say you've already set this up, do you want to redo it? Say yes, continue, should change the port for you.
got it great many thanks
btw I have forgotten how to mark topic closed, I dont see a link anywhere?
